Amanda Knox found guilty. She'll be a free woman in 26 years or so.

Well the verdit is in and it's not good for Amanda Knox. She was found guilty on all counts and sentenced to 26 years. Her boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito sentenced to 25 years for his part in the murder of student Meredith Kercher. The trial in Italy has lasted over 2 years making Italian justice anything but swift. The verdict is light compared to the usual sentence for murder in the US where 25 to life is the norm and in most cases of particularly brutal murder American judges tend to lean toward life.

Amanda's parents contend that she is innocent and are already in the process of filing an appeal. Amanda's parents and her lawyer say that the prosecution failed to give a good reason as to why they were unable to find any evidence at all to place Amanda Knox in the room at the time of the murder. In true Italian fashion there was no official statement from Raffaele Sollecito's family, but they were reported to have screamed hysterically and broke down crying when the verdict was read. They reportedly went home and ate pasta and drank red wine until they passed out.
